A Summer of Building, Learning and Looking Ahead

It’s been a couple of months since we opened Lumoa and published our first Journal post. We wanted to share a little of what we’ve been working on since then.

Most of the work has been behind the scenes: choosing products, improving the store and working through the details that come with running a new business. There’s been plenty to learn, and we’re still finding our way.

Finding the right pieces

We’ve spent much of the summer developing the collection. When we consider a product, we ask whether it’s useful, whether we’d want it in our own home and whether we can see ourselves enjoying it for more than a season.

That doesn’t mean everything has to be purely practical. Sometimes it’s a light that makes a room feel warmer or a small detail you simply like having around.

Away from the screen

Summer has also meant time with family and weekends at our cottage in the Finnish archipelago. It’s been good to step away from the store, spend time outside and come back with a clearer head.

Our own everyday life keeps giving us ideas for Lumoa. We notice what gets used, what makes things easier and what we could happily do without. Those are useful things to keep in mind when deciding what to add to the store.

What’s next

We’ll keep adding to the collection and making the store easier to browse. Here in the Journal, we’ll share updates, ideas and a little of the everyday life behind Lumoa.
